What is the variety
of diameters available for SOFIJET and how can I identify
them ? |
 |
| |
|
30G : 0,30 mm : red hub and paper seal
27G : 0,40 mm : yellow hub and paper seal
25G : 0,50 mm : green hub and paper seal

What is the shelf
life of a needle ? |
 |
| |
|
The sterility time of a needle is five
years. |

|
|
|
| 3) |
What is the hub ? |
 |
| |
|
It is
the threaded plastic part of the needle.
It supports the cannula (ground stainless tube)
and allows the needle to be screwed and unscrewed
on the syringe. |

| 4) |
What is the difference
between a needle with inch thread (AM or non metric) and
a needle with metric thread (EU) ? |
 |
| |
|
The thread of AM needles fits inch-thread
syringes whereas the thread of EU needles fits metric-thread
syringes. |

| 5) |
What is the difference
between a standard needle and a XL needle ? |
 |
| |
|
The external dimensions of the tube are the same but
the inside diameter of the XL
needle is wider. This means that less pressure is
required when injecting.
The anaesthetic flow is larger and gentler, allowing
better patient comfort and smoother penetration.

What is SOFICONCEPT ? |
 |
| |
|
It is a safety injection system that protects
practitioners and DSA from needle stick injuries thanks
to a locking position and prevents cross contamination
thanks to a disposable syringe barrel. |

What does the bevel indicator
help for ? |
 |
| |
|
This spot
on the needle hub indicates bevel position (located
in front of it) and makes injection easier.

| 8) |
May I bend the needle
prior to or during injection ? |
 |
| |
|
It is absolutely not recommended, as it is very dangerous.
Bent needles may break at the hub and remain lodged
into patients gingiva. (Download the SOFIJET
instructions for use)
That is even more the case for XL needles (particularly
flexible). (Download the XL
by SOFIC instructions for use).
If you choose the appropriate needle size (diameter
and length) adapted to the type of anaesthesia (see
table
of sizes), it is not necessary to bend the needle.

|
| 9) |
What is the most likely
reason for blocked needles ? |
 |
| |
|
Depending on the nature and quality of
the anaesthetic cartridge membrane, the latter may break
up when the back end of the needle is inserted, and thus
obstruct the cannula. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| 10) |
Can an anaesthetic leak
be related to the needle ? |
 |
| |
|
Needles cannot leak.
However the cartridge may leak because the membrane is
damaged, due to poor-quality or repeated needle insertion
into the cartridge, or if the back end has been severely
bent by the cartridge (when inserting the cartridge after
the needle).
Therefore, during first use, it is recommended to insert
the cartridge into the syringe before inserting the needle.
Besides, during cartridge reloading, the new cartridge
must be introduced carefully. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| 11) |
Why do I screw the needle
on the syringe with difficulty or conversely, the needle
does not fit the syringe ? |
 |
| |
|
When screwing a needle with metric thread on a syringe
with inch thread, the needle falls off, as the thread
is slightly higher. Conversely, when screwing a needle
with inch thread on a syringe with metric thread, screwing
is impossible, as the thread is slightly tighter (see
question 4).
Besides, problems of screwing may occur if the syringe
used does not comply with the ISO 9997 standard («
Dental Cartridge Syringes »).

|
|
|
| 12) |
Can I recap needles by
hand ? |
 |
| |
|
No. The risk of needle stick injury is high (Download
the SOFIJET
or XL
by SOFIC instructions for use
). The use of a needle recapper is
strongly recommended.
To reduce to 0 the risk of needle stick injury, we recommend
you using SOFICONCEPT.
